The Israeli occupation authorities released Palestinian Jerusalemite prisoner Samer Mutab from Nafha Desert Prison on Tuesday, after 23 years in detention, Safa has reported.

However, this only happened after he was taken from the prison straight to the Maskoubiyeh detention centre by occupation intelligence agents, explained Amjad Abu Asab, head of the Family Committee of the Jerusalemite Prisoners. He was later released under specific conditions.

“The occupation intelligence agency banned Samer Mutab from leaving the town of Al-Ram until Saturday and prevented him from visiting the graves of his father and mother in Jerusalem,” said Abu Asab. “He was also made to sign a personal bail bond worth 10,000 shekels [$2,706] and 3,000 shekels [$812] that he is required to pay if he participates in a celebration to welcome him or if fireworks are launched to celebrate his release.”
