A group representing the families of Israeli captives held in Gaza said it “strongly condemns” Netanyahu’s comments during an interview with Israel’s Channel 14.
“This is about abandoning the 120 captives and a violation of the state’s moral duty towards its citizens,” it said in a statement on X.
“The end of the fighting in the Strip, without the release of the captives, is an unprecedented national failure and failure to meet the goals of the war,” it added.
The condemnation came after the Israeli prime minister indicated that he is open to a “partial” deal with Hamas that would facilitate the return of some captives still held in Gaza, even if not all. He also reiterated that he would not agree to any deal that stipulated an end to Israel’s war on Gaza, despite previous claims by the US that the current truce proposal under discussion would be a pathway to ending the offensive.
