Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for justice for Palestine as he prepares to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Speaking ahead of his departure, Erdogan emphasized the importance of addressing the long-standing Palestinian struggle during his international engagements.

“Turkiye stands firmly with the Palestinian people in their pursuit of freedom, dignity and justice,” Erdogan said. “The international community must prioritise resolving this issue and ensuring a fair and lasting peace in the region.”

The Turkish President has consistently been a vocal advocate for the Palestinian cause, condemning Israeli actions and urging global leaders to take stronger measures to protect Palestinian rights. His speech at the UNGA is expected to focus on this issue, alongside other global challenges such as climate change, food security and regional conflicts.

Erdogan’s visit to the UNGA comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and renewed efforts by Turkiye to bolster its diplomatic outreach in the region. Turkiye’s stance on Palestine remains a cornerstone of its foreign policy, with Erdogan frequently calling for a two-state solution based on 1967 borders and demanding an end to Israeli settlement expansion and military actions in Occupied Territories.
