The ongoing closure of key land crossings into Gaza is significantly worsening the humanitarian situation. The blockade and restrictions on these crossings, such as the Kerem Shalom and Rafah border crossings, have severely limited the flow of essential aid into the region. The United Nations and various humanitarian organizations have emphasized that reopening these crossings is critical to alleviating the dire conditions faced by Gaza’s residents.

The failure to reopen these crossings has compounded the challenges, leading to severe shortages of food, medical supplies, and other essential goods. The representative of Sierra Leone at the UN highlighted that the lack of sufficient land crossings hinders effective humanitarian aid delivery, stressing the need for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire to enable full access to all civilians.

Without reopening these land routes, the humanitarian crisis is expected to deepen, exacerbating food insecurity and health crises. International calls for action include pressing for the immediate opening of all possible access points and ensuring safe and unhindered delivery of aid.
